A strong application makes the link between the role and your experience easy to see. It does not need to be long, but every important claim should be supportable.

Job application checklist: what to review before you send

Start with the role

Identify the three most important tasks or requirements in the advert. Then choose experience that shows how you can contribute.

  • What does the employer need solved?
  • What evidence can you provide?
  • What should you ask rather than guess?

Make the writing specific

Replace broad claims such as motivated or organised with short examples of responsibility, action and result. The application should complement the CV, not repeat it.

Check before submitting

Verify names, role, facts and contact details. Remove invented or exaggerated wording, and read the text aloud to make sure it still sounds like you.

Review the application and CV together

Jobtjek compares the advert, CV and application and shows matches, gaps and specific improvements.
