How to write an application worth reading
A strong application does not tell the employer everything about you. It makes the relevant connection between the role and your evidence easy to see.

Start with the role
Turn the advert into a short list of the problems, tasks and capabilities that matter most. Then select the parts of your CV that genuinely support them.
- Which three requirements appear most important?
- What concrete experience supports each one?
- What still needs clarification?
Use evidence, not adjectives
Words such as motivated and organised carry little weight on their own. Describe a situation, your responsibility and what you actually did. A modest concrete example is stronger than a broad claim.
Give the CV and letter different jobs
Your CV shows the timeline. Your application selects and explains what matters for this role. Finish by checking that every claim is true and that the text still sounds like you.
The best application is not the most impressive-sounding one. It is the one where the employer can quickly see the connection between the role and your actual experience.
